    The Duties of a Schoolmaster “The law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ.” The word “schoolmaster” used here is from the original “pedagogue” who was the entrusted servant to watch over a boy until he was grown. The pedagogue’s duty was to protect the boy in all his activities. Wherefore the law was our school-master to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
